Last Week we just received a copy of the latest newsletter for K1.
During the 4th term they worked on the theme of ” Stories & Rhymes”. The various activities they performed during the term are mentioned below.
- Language and Literacy Children were introduced to stories, rhymes, Aesop’s fables relating to moral values that are appropriate to children’s daily experiences. The learning process was through books, pictures, stories, songs and dramatization.The children also learnt English grammar, composition, comprehension, creative
writing and new vocabulary. - Mathematics. Children worked on ten concepts within 100, 10 & 1 . Concepts within 30, number words within 30 and number sequencing within 50. They learnt about 1 to 1 correspondence, separating, quantifying, sorting and ordering. Addition and subtraction and explored various currency denominations.
- Aesthetic & Creative Expressions To enhance their fine motor and creativity skills, children made crows using cut paper leaves, glue, shiny flowers, scissors, vanguard paper and crayons. They also created ” Leo the Puppet” using envelopes, coloured papers, paints, scissors, glue & plastic eyes.
- Music & Movement Children learnt & enjoyed songs like ” Tom Tom the Piper’s Son”, ” The Grand Old Duke of York” & ” I want to wiggle” among others.
- Phonics Children learnt blending diapgraphs, long & short vowels, rhyming words, final consonants, dipthongs, comprehension with long vowel “i” sound & “r” controlled vowel. They also learnt about “ir” , ” ur” , ” er” & similar sounds.
